Pressure Measuring Devices

Pressure

Pressure is the force acting per unit area and it is expressed mathematically as pressure equal to the force divided by the area and the unit of pressure is newton per meter squared and newton per meter squared is also called pascal. And common types of pressure are atmospheric pressure, absolute pressure, vacuum pressure, gauge pressure.
Common units of pressure are pascal, kilogram per square centimeter, bar, pound per square inch or psi, mmh2o, mmhg, inh2o, inhg.

P = Force(F)/ Area(A) , pascal (N/m²)

Pressure measuring devices

Pressure measuring instruments are barometer, manometer, pressure tube, diaphragm pressure gauge

1. Barometer

A barometer is a device that measures atmospheric pressure and common types of barometers are digital barometers, water barometers and mercury barometers.

1. Digital Barometer

Digital barometer is the most common barometer for measuring pressure and Digital barometer is used for micro chip or IC to measure air pressure or atmospheric pressure.

2. Water barometer

A water barometer is a device for measuring atmospheric pressure basically this device uses water to measure the pressure of rising or falling water level to measure atmospheric pressure.

3. Mercury barometer

A mercury barometer measures the atmospheric pressure and basically this instrument is used to measure the pressure of the mercury and the rise or fall of the mercury to measure the atmospheric pressure

2. Monometer

A manometer is a device for measuring the pressure of a fluid, and mathematically it represents the pressure of a fluid equal to the depth of the fluid multiply by density of the fluid multipy by acceleration due to gravity.
And common type monometer U tube monometer, large leg monometer, well type monometer, inclined tube monometer.

1. U tube monometer

A U-tube manometer is used to measure pressure and consists of a U-shaped tube or pipe and basically a U-tube filled with mercury and mercury used to measure and display the pressure level. And u tube manometer measured pressure using u tube column and one end of u tube column is connected to pressure vessel and other end of u tube column is connected to pressure vessel. And basically pressure is applied at one end of the u tube and liquid is lifted at the other end.

2. Large Leg Monometer

An extended leg manometer is used to measure pressure and has two legs. Basically one end of the leg is small diameter and the other leg has a large diameter tube and the large diameter leg has a wave.

3. Inclined tube monometer

An inclined tube monometer is used to measure pressure and basically an inclined tube monometer is inclined to one side and forms an angle of 10 degrees. And an inclined tube manometer is used to measure small pressure differences

3. pressure tube

A pressure tube is used to measure pressure and a pressure tube is also called a piezometer and is a simple form of a manometer.

4. Borden tube

A Bourdon tube is used to measure pressure and is generally a circular shaped tube with an oval cross section

Basic elements of pressure measurement

  1. Borden tube
  2. diaphragm
  3. capsule
  4. below
  5. Pressure spring
